Excellent food and service I eat here regularly as it is one of my favourite restaurants in Swansea. I visited with friends this week to celebrate Christmas. It was busy but the service was friendly and efficient. We ate from the lunch menu. To start I had the chicken liver parfait with chutney and warm walnut bread which was delicious. For the main it was baked hake on a bed of welsh rarebit and mash. The fish was succulent and the combination of flavours worked well. For dessert I had the chocolate tart which set my taste buds tingling, coffee rounded off one of the best meals I have had for a while. The three course lunch menu is £19.95 and worth every penny and, if you haven’t done so before, I would recommend a visit. One thing to note however, if you have mobility problems, is that the toilet is upstairs with no lift.
Fantastic Meal & Service We ate here on Monday night after managing to get a last minute booking. It’s small restaurant with a great atmosphere. The menu looked great and we couldn’t decide what to order so went for the tasting menu and were not disappointed. Would certainly return if in Swansea again.
Great lunch Wonderful food – all enjoyed; especially the fish cakes and belly pork. Friendly staff but a bit overwhelmed at times. Good location and well presented food. A must try in Swansea.
Dinner with friends Visited the restaurant on a Friday evening after booking a table for four. We were seated in the rather small cellar area down an alarming flight of steep stairs. Although well decorated and quite cosy, we did feel rather apart from the nice atmosphere upstairs and were concerned that we would be forgotten by the staff. My husband, who has visited the restaurant on several occasions said that upstairs is nicer, so bear this in mind when booking, unless you wish to be secluded. The wine list was extensive and we had a bottle of rose with some very nicely mixed Hendricks gins to start. I chose a pâté starter and a steak main which were both very good. I particularly liked the large stuffed mushroom on my steak and the beautifully crispy large chips in a little steel pot. My husband had the pork belly and said it was lovely. Our companions found the menu more problematic as one is a vegetarian and the choice was limited to only a couple of dishes, and the other really wanted chicken or salmon and there wasn’t any on the menu
Cosy this small restaurant was hard to find but well worth the trek in the Swansea rain. We hadn’t booked but arrived just before 12 and they accommodated us. I’d recommend booking as the place was at full capacity by the time we left. The staff were so sweet and took our coats. They have a nice set lunch menu as well as daily specials on the board in this intimate restaurant. We both opted for the fish and chips which was nice enough but not the best I’ve ever had. The dessert was delicious as was the wine. It’s a little pricey but worth a visit. Find this hidden gem opposite the clock work magpie down a walkway between the cross keys and just before wind street.
Amazing Valentines Had previously been to the hanson and the food was outstanding, my partner booked for us to go on valentines night, they had 2 sittings, ours was at 8.30pm. We were the last to arrive for the sitting but ended up being on of the first to receive our food… this was not to the other customers delight. People were complaining around us about the service but as soon as their orders were taken and the food came out, they were more than happy. We had the confit duck and a lamb dish and a steak, was beautifully cooked and well worth the money. Always amazing food here!! Highly recommended.
The best food you can find in Swansea Small and unassuming restaurant, which serves good food, clearly using considered ingredients. Dishes are the best you will find in Swansea. However, the service and sense of welcome lacks in comparison to others in the area and the dishes served deserved to have better trained service staff. I would probably make more effort in dining more frequently here otherwise.
Back for a second time. Second visit, still the same superb food and service. Will be sad when our son finishes his studies at Swansea Uni as we then will not have a reason to visit.
Anniversary Visit Booked as a last minute thing and I can say, without reservation, that you should make time to dine at this gem of an establishment is you are in Swansea. We started with Scallops, had a main of a Hanson’s Trio, and a beautiful desert of a Tahitian Vanilla Creme Brûlée. We couldn’t fault a single thing. Everything was cooked to perfection and the desert was served with a special anniversary message. The waitress is a credit to this establishment. She waited on all the tables alone and did so without fuss or effort. Nothing was too much effort. If you add to this the fact that the prices were more than reasonable I can say that I was blown away with the quality of everything. Even the champagne was inexpensive compared to other venues. This is certainly a place which should not be missed. It is worth travelling to and deserves more credit than it gets. The awards it received over the years only back up how good it is.
Seafood and a lot more besides Never having been to Swansea before if Hanson at the Chelsea is in any way representative then it has an impressive food scene. Lauded by the likes of the Good Food Guide as well as the Michelin l’homme pneumatique. awarded an AA rosette it advertises itself as a speciality seafood restaurant. Certainly the scallop prawn and salmon roulade made its mark whilst the mother and daughter at the table adjoining mine fairly ticked into their main courses of sole in a sea of mussels and shrimps which they supplemented with a sharing bowl of new potatoes. Half of the quarter of ladies ahead of me chose beaded hake and chips as their main. But there is much more besides with steak frites and pork shoulder tempting me almost as much as the duck confit I in fact chose featuring a carrot fondante, a pot of perfectly creamy dauphinoise potato not to mention a thick creme de cassis sauce. A whisky infused bead and butter brioche fairly swimming in an indulgent custard rounded off a truly memorable lunch.
Excellent food in a cosy setting. My husband and I visited this restaurant for our wedding anniversary celebration. We booked a few weeks in advance as we heard it can get booked up quite early, especially at the weekend. My husband had scallops with a cockle and laverbread crumble to start – which was beautifully presented and excellently cooked. I chose a focaccia bread with goat’s cheese and red onion marmalade – again, beautifully presented and delicious.Unfortunately, the restaurant had actually run out of duck, chicken and our originally chosen swordfish. Instead, we opted for honey-roast belly pork and beef fillet. Both dishes were served hot and delicious. The beef was cooked to perfection and the accompanying thrice-cooked garlic chips were quite possibly the most delicious chips I have ever tasted. My husband’s belly pork was served with apple mash and vegetables – again, the dish was perfectly cooked. For dessert, my husband chose the brioche bread & butter pudding with honey and whiskey cream. I chose a mascarpone raspberry cheesecake. The bread and butter pudding, my husband assures me, was delicious. Unfortunately, the cheesecake tasted very standard and was a slight disappointment due to the excellent meal it followed. My only complaints was that the swordfish had run out, as well as chicken and duck. The chicken and duck wasn’t an issue for me, because I was determined to try a speciality fish dish. The other fish on offer was hake, which I’m not particularly enamoured with. Also, a group of about 12 men came in about half an hour after us and they were very loud – which put a dampener on what was supposed to be a romantic anniversary meal. We could barely hear ourselves talk once they had ensconced themselves at their table. It certainly wasn’t the setting for a group of rowdy men, but it’s not the fault of the restaurant. That was simply our bad luck, and other diners did not seem pleased by the group, either.Overall, the meal was superb (when not taking the cheesecake into account). The chefs are excellent at their jobs. The restaurant is small and intimate – just pray you don’t have a large group of men sitting near you!I’d definitely recommend this place, though.
Birthday treat Fantastic meal amazing menu ,the range of food was extensive and the quality was superb .staff were very helpful and attentive , lovely place to go for a treat .
Non comparable – superb Visited early this week and already eyeing up a return for an evening meal. Enjoyed a superb two course lunch there with work colleagues and without doubt Swansea’s best eatery. Locally sourced dishes which were simply stunning and service to match. Your only dilemma will be what to choose as everything looks so appealing with a choice of 8 starters and 8 mains you are spoilt for choice and it is a tricky decision you will not be disappointed whatever choice you finally make. I highly recommend both the fish cake and the belly pork as they were outstanding but every member of my party enjoyed and we all had different dishes. To complement the food there is also a fabulous wine list with some perfect food pairings.Looking forward to my return
Food was sublime I went with family to celebrate my sons 30th birthday. The food was sublime, with lots of oohs and mmm’s however the fillet steak portion was the smallest I’ve ever had when eating out and not sufficient for a male appetite.Menu prices on the night were a bit than those advertised online. That being said look forward to a return visit soon.
Another Lovely Lunch at Hansons. My wife and I eat at Hansons every few weeks and every time the food is excellent. Not the cheapest, but you will have to a long way to get better food. The service is always first class. I would go so far as to say the best restaurant in or around Swansea.
Mam’s 80th Swansea salmon is a great starter, we all had it, my wife had hake, my mother had belly pork as did I, very good! Not as exceptional as usual but very busy! Love this place, great champagne, excellent quality and value £109 including good champagne.
5 star food again and service Me and my wife have been here twice now , and I must say that that the food and service was top class again ,we had the living social deal , which was a bargain and plenty of choice , the food was well presented and cooked to perfection , and the staff very friendly …will be back again ………not bothered about paying full price , as the saying goes , you pay for what you get ? You won’t be disappointed here ……
Evening Meal with a friend We asked what the chef recommended. He said, via the waitress, Mollie, that the Halibut was exceptionally good that day (6th June). We took his advice. It was ‘melt in the mouth’ delicious. Always an excellent meal whether day or evening. As my old school friend who now lives in Canada was over at her birthday time.. I naturally took her to the best restaurant in Swansea.
Little gem We were staying in Swansea on a golfing break and this restaurant was recommended by a lady at one of the clubs we had visited. We are retired, fairly senior executives, taking little on trust but after a little research we decided we would book. The food and wine was simply superb, I opted for wild sea bass, you can have the farmed stuff if you want, our efficient and friendly waitress Molly brought the other mains and advised me that my sea bass had been accidentally dropped and was being replaced, great no bull and no dish served off the floor with fingers crossed! My dish was well worth waiting for the sea bass included langoustine, prawn, various shellfish including the sweetest scallop ever. My dining companions were all equally impressed with dover sole, traditional fish and chips ( best batter ever ) and steaks. You can pay £25 in Swansea for a rubbish meal or dine here splendidly for a tad more.
Superb little restaurant Hidden away (you really have to look for it) is this hidden gem of a restaurant! Sophisticated yet rustic charm. excellent food, service and atmosphere. We both had the Fishcakes to start which were very thick, creamy and seemed to be shallow fried in panko breadcrumbs only. Full of fish and SO good. Filled us up so much, we hoped the mains were small, but no, large dishes again, a beautiful Flat Iron Steak Diane with sauce to die for! Our other dish was the Belly Pork with black pudding and apple. Delicious food with reasonable prices. Will definitely be back.
Relaxed I have visited the Chelsea Cafe several times in recent months both for lunch and dinner, with my partner and with a group of friends. It’s quite bijou with simple decor but this belies the quality food served. Food is classic, well cooked, beautifully presented with lovely flavours. The pork belly main with sage mash and a cider sauce is to die for. Deserts are gorgeous, drinks are reasonably priced. Service can be a little slow however this has never bothered me as the restaurant is somewhere I like to linger, savour courses and just relax. Lunch is a bargain at £16.95 three courses, dinner is around £30 three courses.
A very tasty tasting menu We had lunch here, using a Travel Zoo promotion. The small, tucked away, premises were sensibly laid out with attentive and welcoming staff who provided excellent service. The tasting menu was well thought out with a wide variety of flavours which complemented each other and worked very well as a whole. Also of note were the ‘just right’ portion sizes. A very enjoyable lunchtime meal.
Nearly perfect Went for an anniversary meal. Pork belly delicious and presentation stunning. Steaks weren’t 5* I’m afraid and we’ve defiantly had a better cut of meat elsewhere. Fish was lovely but served with just 2 boiled potatoes so the people eating fish were still Hungry. All desserts ordered were lovely. All in all I would recommend, however I just feel the fish should come with some vegetables on the same and not 2 potatoes, as it’s not cheap, and also look at the quality of steaks you get. I won’t mark down as it’s a lovely little restaurant but feel with minor improvements it would be perfect. Going to try the daytime next time as it I’m sure it’ll be much better value
Fabulous afternoon.. Had a beautiful meal with my wife on the day restrictions changed again, luckily before 6pm so could enjoy a drink too. Felt very Covid safe at all times.Fantastic quality to all courses, and wonderful service from Molly. Can’t wait to return again under more normal circumstances. 👌👌
Glad we found it My wife and I were in Swansea for a couple of days and looking for nice place to lunch. We booked here but it is hidden away and we were on the point of giving up looking for it when we eventually found it. It is quite small and ” intimate” but cosy. It soon filled up with locals so booking is a must. We had the set menu which was varied with local twists – salmon fish cakes with local cheese centre, duck eggs and pate for starters. We both had the belly pork with black pudding. All very tasty and well presented, service good and reasonably priced- £40 for 2 inc drinks. The rest of the menu is very varied and well worth another visit the next time we are in swansea
Great food good service Eaten there quite a few times and the food is always good and the service excellentMust be the best restaurant in Swansea great seafood
Excellent as always. We went once again to The Chelsea Cafe for dinner, as every time previously it was excellent. There were four of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed everything we had.Service was good and even though it was very busy, we did not have to wait too long.To us The Chelsea Cafe is the best restaurant in and around Swansea always everything to a very high standard. It is not cheap but well worth the money.I thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
So quaint and food phenomenal We have visited this restaurant several times. for both lunch and evening meals. It’s a restaurant on a side street so a cute hideaway. The staff were so friendly and the food, though expensive, was amazing and definitely worth the money. I would definitely go here again, and would recommend it to anyone. It’s close to Wind St too, so if you fancy a few drinks after, it’s only a short walk, however being on a side-street means that it’s not disturbed by noise from the bustle of Wind St. Lovely evening!
Brilliant little gem… Visited for the first time lunchtime yesterday, compliments of a TravelZoo voucher. What a find! Small but atmospheric restaurant hidden away behind Wind Street. Excellent taster menu and great service from Rachel, we will definitely visit again.
Birthday lunch Excellent lunch. Food very good. Service amazing. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and we will visit again soon
Worth a Visit!! This is our second time we have eaten at this restaurant. All I can say is the food is outstanding! Be aware the portions are quite big so make sure you are hungry! You would need to book as they are very popular! We are bringing some friends to try this restaurant as we have raved on about it! We will see you again can’t wait, local produce at its best proud to be welsh!
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION A birthday group of twelve, not one gripe, the food was first class, the chef must be the tops,Steak diane was fantastic.
best meal wow top notch amazing food. all freshly prepared using local ingredients. 5 of us went for a family meal here and it was delicious. everything cooked to perfection and we paired it with a margaux . great food and lovely service. Love the fact no salt and pepper on the table, if you wanted it or added sauces just needed to ask. also thanks for the buttered gluten free toast for the pate that was an appreciated gesture.
Great food Whether you like meat or fish this place has an excellent cooking standard… It has a quiet intimate setting without too many tables giving a cosy atmosphere. The service is personal and not over bearing, the waiting staff are very lovely and set a lovely tone. I am a fish eater and the scallops were outstanding nit a lot of places get the right, and my parter a big meat eater was delighted with the racj of lamb stating it was second to none.
Fantastic lunch at the Chelsea Cafe to brighten a wet, dreary day. My partner and I visited the restaurant on Tuesday lunchtime. We did not reserve and found the restaurant reasonably full. The service from the waitress was excellent and she served us in an efficient, unflustered manner, and was able to offer good advice on the dishes we ordered. As to the food itself, well….My starter was the Salmon and crab and it was a visual and tastey delight. The main I had was the Hake, whilst my partner had Confit of duck. We finished with brioche bread and butter pudding infused with whisky and honey and crepe brûlée, plus we each had a glass of wine with our meal which took the meal to £50 which I thought very reasonable for the excellent quality of the food on offer here. The place has been going for the best part of 18 years and is an absolute gem of a restaurant.
Fine Dining at modest price Visited Hanson at Chelsea with a friend. The restaurant is situated in the centre of Swansea off St. Marys Street near the Cross Keys Pub & Hogarth’s Gin Palace. I was recommended the place by a work colleague who had the three course set lunch. The occasion I was going up for was a Bill Bailey gig in Swansea Grand, with him on his Larks in Transit Tour. So we decided to have a pre-theatre lunch (and a boozy, lazy afternoon). We also went for a three course lunch with a bottle of red wine to wash it all down. I had the rabbit, chicken & ham hock terrine with apricot & ginger chutney with sourdough toast for starters. Followed by a main of steak Diane with vegetable & roast potatoes. Finally the piece de-resistance the desert – bread and butter brioche pudding with honey & whiskey. My friend had similar only he had the chicken rillettes as a starter. The meal was fantastic to the taste & well presented. The restaurant is very small, narrow & cosy. (Dare I say compact & bijou?) The staff are very helpful esp. with wine recommendations. They do have a full a la carte menu for evenings. When we return to the restaurant at a later date, my friends have their eye on the seven courses for £40s (compare that to the lunch of three courses for £20). This is well worth a visit for fans of fine dining or that special date, family celebration etc. Look forward to going back there.
An excellent meal Booked a table for my wife and myself to celebrate my 70th Birthday having travelled from Shrewsbury on the Heart of Wales Railway ( Highly recommended). Our meal was excellent and although the restaurant was busy there was no delay with the service. My starter of scallops was very tasty and the roast belly pork mains was generous and not in the least bit fatty as it can be.The choice of desserts was quite imaginative and my wife was pleased with her choice of a chocolate creme brulee. The wines were also reasonably priced at £4.95 for a 250ml glass of the house red.I would certainly visit this restaurant again and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
Amazing food Smoked salmon and melon, included crab, caviar and prawns! The three of us had the same starter, followed by pork for myself and my mother and my wife had the hake! This place was busy which created a lovely atmosphere, the wine was reasonable and excellent a really good malbec “zapa” we couldn’t fault it.I’m allergic to cows milk and wheat with no problem.
Birthday meal Food and service were great. The only thing that let the food down was a side of veg that did not show any of the care and Attention given to the rest of the meal. Would defiantly return hear but wouldn’t bother with the extra vegetables offered by the waiting staff, oh and the clams are a bit gritty. Don’t mean to sound like I’m Moaning about what was a lovely meal but it’s these little things that mean its recommended by the Michelin guide but doesn’t have a Michelin Star.
Fabulous meal Wow. We just completed six weeks in Wales and Greece and had some fabulous meals but our meal at Hanson’s was my favourite. Service is friendly, helpful and professional. I had hake, my wife and aunt sea bass. Both dishes were superb. Can’t remember my appetizer but it was superb too. Bread and butter pudding for dessert is sensational! Everything about this place is top notch. You need a reservation. I can’t wait to go back there on our next visit to Swansea.
ANNIVERSARY LUNCH I have visited this gem before and knew it would be a perfect place to treat my wife for our anniversary. The welcome was warm and friendly from the two waitresses. The food was delivered in evenly spaced intervals. The food was of high quality and a delight.Goats cheese cheesecake, vegetable soupCrispy pork belly and steak with pepper sauce. Lemon tart and creme brulie. The venue is compact and we were glad to be seated in a corner as space for the waitresses is limited when the tables are full which they were with all the graduations. Would visit again and would highly recommend this cosy restaurant.
Gastronomic delight Booked this through an offer with travel zoo, and didn’t really know what to expect. We were absolutely delighted!! There was a great selection of starters, main courses and desserts, not to mention an excellent wine list. The staff were very friendly and welcoming – nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, all three courses served with a very nice bottle of red. It was a fun evening, and although the restaurant was full it still felt intimate. We shall most definitely visit here again, and would have no hesitation in recommending.
A nice find Went here as part of my father in law 70th Birthday celebrations. We booked a table for 12 of us. It’s a small restaurant but has a nice atmosphere. We all had starters and mains. I brought my five year old. The website said that they do a children’s menu but they don’t. My son just had some chips.I had the Swansea salmon with melon, capers, pickles and horseradish to start. It was lovely. My husband had the scallops and laverbread and cockle crumble. I had the duck confit. It was nice but a bit greasy. The potato gratin was tasty. My husband had the steak and from the varied meals everybody enjoyed. The restaurant is close to wine street and was a few drunks around and loud. Worth noting that the only toilet is upstairs, and very steep stairs. It isn’t cheap but you are paying for quality.
Service wasn’t best. Food was great As i was working on mothers day, i took my mum here as a wednesday lunch time treat. I didn’t book and we were lucky to have a table. We were sat at the back by the bar sort of area. The waitress came with menu’s but didn’t ask us if any drinks. We sat there for a while with the menu before i had to ask for a drink. We weren’t given a wine menu either. The lunch time menu is a great price £13 for 2 course. The quality of the food is excellent. All fresh. We both had the hake- very nice. I had creme brulee & mum had bread/ brioche pudding. Its a tiny venue but would return again. Just hope the staff are a bit more switched on next time.
What a Place What can I say….this is such a good place to eat. The lunch menu offers such good value it is a place you should visit! Top notch.
Lush Lunch!!! ‘Hanson at the Chelsea’ was recommended to me by a representative that visited our company in the Midlands, he came from Swansea and I was off to the Gower on holiday, he said “you must go to this place, it is amazing”. I duly booked lunch to celebrate my 60th birthday – we were not disappointed – we chose from the selection of the set lunch menu and the food was locally sourced, imaginative, beautifully cooked and very well presented. This restaurant is a little gem hidden away on a side street and most certainly a credit to the owner, we will visit again, thank you, you made my birthday memorable and my waistline expand!!
Great food, great service Lovely relaxing atmosphere, service is great as I was being a little fussy when we went and they were more than happy to sort out exactly what I wanted. The food is so tasty!
Dinner in Swansea It was a friday nite. We didn’t book a table but we still had place. Lucky for us, because the resto was quite full afterwards. The resto was small and cosy. The location wasn’t good with noisy bars and clubs on the opposit side of the resto. The menu was small with a fine selection of starters and main dishes. We took the swansea smoked salmon and the courgette soup as starter. The salmon was well prepared and matches quite well with the crab and the sweet fruit. The soup was ok, nothing special here. As main dish we got the gower lamb, which was also well prepared and seasoned well. Overall we were quite satisfied with our meal.
A hidden gem Would you believe I was recommended this restaurant when I got talking to the operator when buying car insurance and what a recommendation. We had a fantastic meal and will definitely visit again. I understand they also do a Prosecco lunch.
Best meal in Swansea! I have regularly eaten at this restaurant and it is great value for money. As for the review before this one, how can you have the misfortune to eat there more than once. If. You didn’t like it the first time, you shouldn’t have returned. If your worried about your overdraft, there is always the harvester with free salad counter. What a pearled…
Excellent Service and Food Great Menu of quality food and always a good Fish selection with excellent service from happy staff with nothing being a problem.
Another Beautiful Meal at Hanson at the Chelsea Cafe. We frequently eat at The Chelsea Cafe and have done for years.I have to say we have never been disappointed. Lunch or dinner is always excellent. We visited lunchtime as a group of friends, there is a smashing lunchtime menu with delicious food reasonably priced. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. There service is also first class.I thoroughly recommend it and will certainly be back again soon.
BRILLIANT LUNCH MENU Called in today on the off chance and being a Tuesday managed to get in which I understand can be difficult many days without booking. The place is nice enough but I think if it was full then you would be a bit crowded and have everyone listening into your conversation – but thats the only negative (get a larger restaurant!). Service and welcome was warm and efficient – couldn’t fault it. The food was absolutely excellent – can’t remember the exact price, but 2 courses around the £12 mark but very good size portions and excellent choices. Food come up beautifully cooked and very well presented. This place, like the Dragon, provides an excellent lunchtime venue. Well recommended – but probably best to book!
Probably the finest food in Swansea I’ve been to Chelsea three times, and I’ve never been disappointed. The atmosphere is nice, warm and quiet, and the food is probably the best you can get in the city of Swansea. The lamb is particularly good, and obviously the fish never lets you down. The only thing they could improve a little is service, as once we’ve been served by a quite incompetent waitress, but that was because she was new, and to be honest it didn’t bother me at all, as the food was so nice!Definitely worth it.
A consistently great place to eat! Eaten here at least 5 times now, every meal has been amazing. I’ve eating from the main menu and the specials board, it’s our place to eat when we’re looking for something a bit special. I have eaten in many Michelin stared restaurants all over the world and feel the quality and seasonally reflective menu should hold a Michelin rating! I prefer lunch time dining over evening dinning as I’m not fussed about walking through the gauntlet of half naked youths on Wind St.
A wonderful experience – when can we go again? I arranged a family meal here for my Mum’s birthday and hubby and I can’t wait for a return visit! The staff were extremely accommodating – service and food were excellent. I can thoroughly recommend the smoked salmon starter and hubby loved his scallop dish and the main course rack of lamb from the specials board which we both had was just amazing. Others in the party had goats cheese starter which went down really well and the sole and duck were excellent mains. We didn’t sample the desserts as we had taken a birthday cake along which the staff brought out, singing “Happy Birthday” – but on the next visit, there will be no excuse and there were a few I had my eye on! Well done to Andrew and all of his staff – what a gem of a restaurant!
Not quite tip top When I arrived they couldn’t trace my reservation and weren’t expecting me. Oh dear. They found a table but could have been slightly more welcoming. The food was great if a little uninspired. Classics, particularly fish, well executed and well seasoned.
Everything was perfect! Stunning food, in a fabulous atmosphere, menu had so many great choices and was extremely reasonably priced. Wine was delicious! Loved everything about it, so much so, that I am going again very soon with the girls.
Very good meal I visited this restaurant with a group of friends. I was very impressed with the dishes offered on the menu, many of which you would not expect to see in an average restaurant. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal (all three courses!). The service was also good, friendly and attentive. My only complaint would be the location of the table on which we were sat. It was so close to the kitchen/serving area that I was constantly aware of the waitress walking behind me with plates and dishes (don’t know if there is a health and safety issue with this). If I go again, I would ask to be sat at another table.
“BEAUTIFULLY COOKED AND PRESENTATION WAS STUNNING” Visited this restaurant last night September 15th, along with my husband and 11 year old son. We all had a three course meal and every plate was beautifully presented. My husband had the french onion soup, which was to die for. My son and I both had the scallopes, which were beautifully presented and tasty. The duck was also to die for….just melted in the mouth. My husband had the bass and my son had the sirloin both of which were also lovely. Desserts …. Well what can I say…..All homemade, the lemon tart….Gorgeous…..The chocolate pecan tart….Gorgeous. As for the restaurant, it is a lovely relaxing atmosphere, and a lovely helpful waitress.I definitely recommend this restaurant for any occasion and will certainly be going back there.
Excellent Small but cozy and romantic place. Very refined and never banal cuisine. Very friendly and attentive service. Ideal for a couple’s dinner. Excellent soups to start and meat main courses, especially duck and lamb. Medium to high prices but money well spent.
Fantastic food in a little hidden gem We visited on a Monday night and were delighted with the food served and the atmosphere at this fantastic little restaurant. The menu choice was extensive, and reasonably priced for the quality of meals we received. It’s location at a lane adjoining wind street means that sometimes the area outside can be very busy but don’t let that put you off! It’s well worth a visit but I would suggest making a reservation would be the best option as its not a large space, and even on a Monday night it was very popular.
Excellent food I had scallops as a starter, halibut to follow.Good tastes, happy food and pleasant environment.Would return in a shot.
Amazing food Superb evening ! All dishes are delicious, very well cooked and thought through. Everything is decently priced as well which makes it great value for money. Strongly recommend !
The hake was perfectly cooked and the best I have tasted in many years I was in Swansea on business, wanted a light lunch and had heard about Hanson’s at the Chelsea. It was a magical experience. I started with flaked crab and delicately smoked salmon- a perfect combination. The I had fish (hake) and chips. It takes a rare talent to cook the fish, which was very fresh, to that level of perfection perfection.I look forward to my next visit and being able to try the tasting menu in the evening.Let us know what we were able to do for you.
