Fantastic lunch during a bleak Fantastic lunch during a bleak December. The food was amazing and the price very reasonable, I’m sorry I have not visited here more often but will do so in future.
Always amazing I’ve eaten here many times. In fact I had my graduation meal here. Their lunch menu is really good value and the specials are also very interesting. Service and the standard of food is second to none. It’s a small venue with a downstairs seating area that I don’t like (no natural light and noisy) so if you book make sure you ask to be seated upstairs.
Stunning, the best food in Swansea Lovely service, absolutely stunning food. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. It was more than just a meal, it was an experience. We will go back again and again.Lovely staff, lovely food, lovely wine! What more could you ask for? I’ve eaten in most places in Swansea, this is hands down the best.
Seafood and a lot more besides Never having been to Swansea before if Hanson at the Chelsea is in any way representative then it has an impressive food scene. Lauded by the likes of the Good Food Guide as well as the Michelin l’homme pneumatique. awarded an AA rosette it advertises itself as a speciality seafood restaurant. Certainly the scallop prawn and salmon roulade made its mark whilst the mother and daughter at the table adjoining mine fairly ticked into their main courses of sole in a sea of mussels and shrimps which they supplemented with a sharing bowl of new potatoes. Half of the quarter of ladies ahead of me chose beaded hake and chips as their main. But there is much more besides with steak frites and pork shoulder tempting me almost as much as the duck confit I in fact chose featuring a carrot fondante, a pot of perfectly creamy dauphinoise potato not to mention a thick creme de cassis sauce. A whisky infused bead and butter brioche fairly swimming in an indulgent custard rounded off a truly memorable lunch.
Well worth a visit!! mu husband and i went for dinner last night. We are my no means regulars but try and go twice a year. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! The food is amazing, great atmosphere, lovely staff and an all round great experience. Miss it miss out!!
Outstanding Haven’t been for a meal here for a number of years, but it’s still every bit as excellent as I remember. Ok, I’ve never actually eaten at a Michelin starred restaurant, but I can’t see how they can beat the food at the Chelsea. The presentation is outstanding, the taste is amazing, and the portions are great too. The vegetarian meal I had was amazing (I’m not a Vegeterian, just sounded delicious and it was), and the desert was to die for. Only problem is that I can’t wait to go back and try something else.
Our first night of three in Our first night of three in Swansea and we couldn’t have asked for better!! What an amazing restaurant! The food was incredible and the service was impeccable. Both the waiter and waitress were very attentive and friendly and made us feel very welcome! Can definitely recommend the sharing dessert platter and any of the main courses!! Superb!
An excellent evening ouit Lovely food and an excellent wine list. Took some old foodie friends there who were suitably impressed. Different dishes such as Cod Kiev – well worth trying. We’ll be back.
Superb !!!! Happened to stumble into this restaurant whilst looking for somewhere different to eat, luckily for us its as good as anywhere I have ever eaten. Food was absolutely fantastic, service faultless. Since our first visit we have been back at least 5 times and each meal has always been absolutely superb. We are currently working our way through the menu.Highly recommended, must try but recommend booking as it gets busy quite early
Lovely food and cosy atmosphere Met with friends for lunch which was beautifully presented and really tasty. Lovely home cooked soup to start and salmon with lovely spicy shredded vegetables – delicious. Lemon tart to finish with ice cream. This place never disappoints! Can’t wait for next visit.
Beautiful food, attentive service I had dinner here with some colleagues on Wednesday evening. The menu has been refreshed a little since my last visit some months ago. I had a delightful ‘mini welsh breakfast’ followed by the tornado of beef and my favourite trio of deserts. The accompanying wine menu was excellent as ever and the service is friendly and efficient without being overbearing. The restaurant can feel a little cramped when it’s full but it enjoys a nice informal atmosphere.I’d recommend without hesitation.
Best restaurant in Swansea Such a find I just wish I’d found it sooner! Honestly the food is amazing, brilliant flavours, cooked perfectly and makes you want to go back time and time again! The chef is without a doubt on another level than most in Swansea and creates a range of mouth watering dishes throughout the year. I’ve been there several times and found both the atmosphere and service very warm, relaxed and friendly. I’d recommend for special occasions or a week day meal as they do great deals. Suitable for couples, family, friends, business or solo. Can’t wait to go back!
Annual review A great menu, made it difficult to choose at first; unfortunately, for a few of us, they didn’t have everything available, which was disappointing. There were 20 people which was a challenge, but the service could have been a little better; some waited ages even for a soft drink. The quality of the food was very good and no one complained about that.I would visit again, but would make sure that a large group is not going.
21st Birthday- Round 2. I was treated to a meal here to celebrate my 21st birthday (might have been my 30th…not too sure). I didnt know where I was going and had never been here before…..BUT it did not disappoint!! The food was outstanding and the 2 bottles of wine were even better. The staff were fantastic! Really helpful, friendly and welcoming. Some of the best service I’ve ever recieved while dining out. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate my 30th….I mean my 21st!!!
Wow Took my wife here for a surprise anniversary meal and I have to say it was one of the best meals I have ever had. It’s on a par with the walnut tree in Abergavenny for quality and taste and the good reviews are well deserved.I will definitely be going back.
Quality all the way! Superb menu choice, could have picked so many dishes, amazing flavours, everything done so simply well – not a surprise I guess from a chef trained in a well know London establishment. We’ll be back v soon!
Flawless This is the second time we’ve eaten at the Chelsea and it was absolutely wonderful. The service was fantastic – just one waitress for the whole room who was friendly, had everything effortlessly under control, and made us feel very comfortable. The atmosphere was pleasant and the food was delicious. Absolutely no complaints, would recommend it highly, a great place to eat for a special occasion.
HAD A GREAT NIGHT Currently no.17on TA for Swansea so there must be 16 other absolutely ‘must visit’ restaurants (-have been to one of them and sadly that one came nowhere near the standards we experienced ‘at the Chelsea’).The food was excellent, service very attentive without being OTT and the restaurant clientele was fun and friendly all adding up to a great ambience.Altogether excellent and highly recommended
Fabulous afternoon.. Had a beautiful meal with my wife on the day restrictions changed again, luckily before 6pm so could enjoy a drink too. Felt very Covid safe at all times.Fantastic quality to all courses, and wonderful service from Molly. Can’t wait to return again under more normal circumstances. 👌👌
Beware the 7 course scam 😉 The food is absolutely top notch, the front of house staff have personality, the ambience is great and highly recommend BUT we went for the 7 course special. At the end of the meal I pointed out we’d only had 6 courses. ‘Oh we must’ve forgotten the bread and butter, I’ll make a deduction from your bill’ !!!!! Result £2.45 off!!!!
Great Food,Excellent Service,……….But Cold Inside. We had eaten here before and were in the basement i had phoned up and was told downstairs was not open on a weekday to my relief. It was a weekday lunchtime and we had booked for 1-30pm the restaurant was very busy and we were asked by a lovely lady called Molly where to sit there was by the door which we turned down and sat on the left hand side by the fireplace,we both realised straight away how cold it was inside the restaurant and hoped by the time we had food it would warm up.Molly who was the only waitress on looked rushed off her feet,we ordered our starters and mains and service was fairly prompt,my wife choose the chicken liver, and i went for the fishcake, both meals were excellent, for our mains my wife had the belly pork and i had fish and chips again meals were well cooked no complaints, after our food we were feeling quite cold we asked for the bill,by this time Molly was busy serving the big table on the same side as us and was trying her best to serve coffee and desserts and i think it was a few brandys for the big table. We must have waited about half an hour for the bill to come and get paid(I must add Molly seemed under pressure and the wait was not her fault)overall a nice meal service was great but unfortunately you do not book a restaurant and feel cold, would i come back here yes i would but i would insist on a cold winters day not to be seated any where near the door. For all those disabled people level access to go in very tight for space inside tables are situated very close together, toilets upstairs quite steep to go up.I would score this restaurant seven out of ten.
A hidden gem Would you believe I was recommended this restaurant when I got talking to the operator when buying car insurance and what a recommendation. We had a fantastic meal and will definitely visit again. I understand they also do a Prosecco lunch.
Surprised From the outside the restaurant looks like something out of a Dickensian novel. But once you walk in it is modern but not overdone. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. Our waitress was extremely helpful. The food was a delight the only down side was that the food was so good you wanted to have bigger portions.
Better then ever Dined here with my friends for lunch, l had the smoked salmon, my friends had the fish cake and homemade soup all excellent, main courses , l had the calfs liver as did others all thourght it was excellent, and the cottage pie was very good, as always excellent food and excellent service will be booking agian soon.
Good food, moaning customers. I was one of the four people who was talking on the table behind from Daniel’s review. At least we enjoyed our meal though. By the way we were not being derogatory or offensive to anyone just enjoying ourselves. Oh and I can at least spell all the words in my review correctly! On a serious note the seating wasn’t the best as we had a whiff of the toilets every time someone went in, but we didn’t let that spoil the night.
Fantastic evening meal Four of us had an absolutely first class meal on Tuesday 4th ofMarch. Service was impeccable, waitress was lovely, extremely polite and professional We had scallops with a Thai sauce & crispy noodles for a starter which were to die for. Two of us had the best rack of lamb in Wales ,which were beautifully cooked, the presentation of the meal was superb. The men had medium rare fillet steak perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce . For desserts sticky toffee pudding and brioche bread and butter pudding infused with whisky and honey, which were excellent. Beautiful presentation throughout. food tasted incredible and each flavour complemented the others. We would recommend anyone to go and have food at this restaurant,it is the best one in Swansea. We look forward to going back soon.
Top Notch, go there How is this place not number one in Swansea. Been to pretty much all of the better restaurants in the area and this place is well up there. It’s actually up there with some of the better London restaurants. Deserves its good ratings. Good quality wine list is also well priced
A consistently great place to eat! Eaten here at least 5 times now, every meal has been amazing. I’ve eating from the main menu and the specials board, it’s our place to eat when we’re looking for something a bit special. I have eaten in many Michelin stared restaurants all over the world and feel the quality and seasonally reflective menu should hold a Michelin rating! I prefer lunch time dining over evening dinning as I’m not fussed about walking through the gauntlet of half naked youths on Wind St.
Leaving Do Recently went to the restaurant for a colleagues retirement do, there was ten of us so we were seated in the basement. It was lovely and cool down there compared to upstairs during all this hot weather. I had ordered the fish cake for starters and the duck as my main. Both were beautiful with the duck meat just falling off the bone. Great service and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.
Fish Night I had the Scallops with Black Pudding and Quails egg to start, lovely combination and just enough as a starter. For main I had the Sea Bass in with a cockle butter and vegetables, everything was cooked well and all our dishes were presented well.It is a bit more expensive than an average meal in Swansea, but well worth it.Lovely little restaurant, nice atmosphere.
Birthday treat Fantastic meal amazing menu ,the range of food was extensive and the quality was superb .staff were very helpful and attentive , lovely place to go for a treat .
chelsea cafe Advance booking needed.Small with a lovely cosy atmosphere.Very frendly staff. Excellent food, reasonably priced.Duck egg & pate with soldiers a very nice starter as was the salmon fishcake. The lamb main was absolutely delicious, unfortunatly we didn’t have space for a desert after the first 2 courses. This place is consistantly excelent.

Great food Attended this restaurant today for a baby shower,we were downstairs.I had read that the food was excellent, and it was, very very good. The only drawback, was the size of the rooms,it was ok where we were as we were all together, and was great that we could make a lot of noise.Upstairs would put me off going, as everyone was on top of each other, with no privacy. But as I say, excellent food, really great.
One of the Very Best Restaurants in or around Swansea. We often have lunch or dinner at the Chelsea Cafe and have done for a number of years. The food and service is always first class and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The menu is extensive and there are also daily specials to choose from, so there will be something to suit all tastes. The wine list is also good, albeit a bit pricey, but not more than other comparable restaurants. We highly recommend the Chelsea Cafe for lunch and for dinner and for special occasions.
The Best First class meal as always, food is to die for best restaurant in Swansea , can wait till we go back again, we will be booking for april
Superb food If you’re ever in Swansea you MUST visit Hanson’s. The food is of exceptional quality. The menu is varied and interesting using locally sourced meat and fish which are cooked to perfection. Also, the staff are friendly and helpful.Give it a try. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Fantastic Hadn’t visited for some time, but not disappointed. lovely tasty food and decent wine too. The pastry on the beef bourguignon was fantastic.
Awesome Fantastic food with friendly & attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble. We went there for a family birthday and the staff were more than happy to lay out decorations for our party. It’s a small reastaurant full of charm with a wonderful menu. I advise to eat upsatirs rather than down as the decor & atmosphere are so much better. This is a ‘hidden gem’ and a ‘must go’ place to eat either as a couple or as a large party. we have done both, but you must book in advance so as not to be disappointed.
A Perfect Lunch A sunny day brought us to Swansea for a look around and a walk. We researched somewhere reasonable for lunch and found many restaurants were closed as it was a Monday. A review of the TA reports suggested that Hanson at the Chelsea might be a good choice, and we were not disappointed. This is a small (c30 seat) restaurant – casual dining, with plain tables nicely dressed. The menu at lunchtime is a three course (with around six choices per course) for just under £20. The wine list includes three or four good reds and whites by the glass. Service was efficient and swift, yet unhurried. But the main event was the food. This is as serious kitchen. As starters, I chose the salmon fish cake with Perl Wen melting centre whilst my partner chose the smoked salmon and flaked crab, paired with summer fruits and berries. Both were excellent with the fish cake having that balance of external crispness and internal moisture and taste, helped by the melting cheese inside. The smoked salmon and crab contrasted well with the fruit on this hot summer’s day and was a delight. We chose confit of duck and hake filet as our main courses. The hake came with mushroom parfait potato glaze and a herb butter sauce, with vegetables. It was judged to perfection and notably the vegetables were that right balance between al-dente and over-cooked. The mange-tout in particular were beautifully crisp yet not hard. Timing is clearly a strong point in the kitchen. The duck dish with gratin potatoes and port & orange sauce was reported by my partner as the best tasted for many years. For dessert a lemon tart – moist and tangy and a brownie with anglaise sauce and honeycomb ice cream – light and satisfying. The meal ended with good coffee. This is a really rewarding find in a relatively insignificant back-street just off Wind Street near the castle. The value for money is good and it was hard to fault any aspect of what was a truly enjoyable and relaxed lunch experience.
Beaujolais Nouveau Ate at this restaurant with friends for the first time on Beaujolais Nouveau Day. Restaurant was busy with great atmosphere. Set menu all sounded delicious. Had salmon and crab starter, beef main and profiteroles as dessert. Considering how busy it was, service was quick and efficient. Food was delicious too. Looking forward to visiting when not quite so busy!
Fab find on a Gower golf trip Found this gem of a restaurant whilst away with friends on a golf trip. We had the 7 course tasting menu which was devine and excellent value for £50. Our pannacotta wasn’t quite set at the end of our meal, so I had the difficult task of choosing from the 7 desserts that were on the main menu! The sticky toffee pudding was the winner, served with homemade ice-cream what a treat! The young waiter that served us as fantastic and had a great knowledge of the menu and advised us perfectly us when we had queries with dishes. Thank you 👌👌👌
Great food, nice service, very friendly. For me the portion size was perfect. The food was cooked to perfection and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend, but not if you have a massive appetite. Reasonably priced for 2 courses.
Delicious food and great service! I always book dinner at Hanson at the Chelsea whenever I am in Swansea: I’ve tried various restaurants in this city and this is by far the best!.(I have now been 3 times and have just booked a 4th)The food is superb; amazing tastes and beautifully presented. Excellent wine list.It is perfect for dinner a deux or supper with friends. The atmosphere is cosy and informal; the staff attentive and cheerful.
well worth the money Fantastic little restaurant hidden just off wind street in the heart of Swansea. The restaurant is small and intimate, it is fantastic for special occasions. The service is good and the food is unbelievable. The food is divine and cooked to a very high standard with expert presentation. The restaurant is one of the more expensive in Swansea but it is worth every penny. There is. Lunch time set menu which is reasonably priced and includes a lot of items from the man menu. I would recommend the confit duck leg of the steak as both are fantastic and cooked perfectly. I visit the restaurant to celebrate all special events as in my opinion you cannot get better in Swansea. I would give Hanson at the Chelsea a review of 5/5.
Can’t Fault this place 2nd visit for lunch in a few weeks. Food is great, the choice is also just right although I tend to go with what I like all the time. Plenty of Thatchers Gold kept us all going whilst the women enjoyed Prosecco as normal. Can’t fault Mollie who looked after us again. Can recommend the Terrine also the Salmon and Haddock. Going to have the Scallops next time as they looked fantastic and I did have a try.
Bijou British This is a small restaurant, just off the stag/hen do mecca that is Wind St. But don’t be put off – it is a place that cares about it’s local produce, and the staff are attentive and well informed. The dishes and menu are like the restaurant – perfectly proportioned, but not gargantuan. It’s all about quality. Local produce is the speciality – whether it is a local catch of the day, or a rack of Welsh Lamb (I’d recommend – though they sell out, so maybe order ahead if you want to taste the lamb). The wine list is very well balanced, and you’ll find something to please your palate. I’ve been twice, and will go again.
A small gem in a big city! Went as a group of 6 including a 3 year old boy, for dinner on a tuesday. A bit tricky to find the place. Small but cozy. The service was by a lone waiter who did a good job covering all the 3 tables with diners on that night AND managing to engage and entertain the 3 year old. I went for the £19.95 3 course set menu while the rest ordered a la carte. The bread was not bad( not warm though), but as this is the first ‘dish’ which you normally taste in a restaurant, I am sure they should try and produce something better. My starter mussels in a creamy sauce was very good with some intense delicious flavours and not surprisingly the sauce was finished off with the bread by my co-diners…and the mussels were chunky and fresh. I had salmon for the main course which was quiet good as well. I also managed to sample some of the food of my friends. The carrot and coriander soup was a touch too sweet, but still very good. The lamb steaks were excellent and the wild sea bass was perfect. Desserts were cheescake, creme brule and ice cream – all good( but could be better). All in all, we had a lovely evening with no faults with either the food or the service. Didn’t realise that the restaurant had 2 AA rosettes and I think it thoroughly deserves it. Glad we discovered this place as I do agree with one of the diner’s review that Swansea ( surprisingly for a big city) has a dearth of good restaurants. Will defenitely return.
A friendly lunch. Met up with a good friend here for lunch, being a halfway point for both of us. We were shown to our table by Rebecca who informed us that she was originally from Seattle. Chose two courses from the adequate menu which were very tasty and well presented. A very enjoyable lunch with a very friendly, informative server.
5 star service & food!! A long overdue visit for us, and a lovely experience all round. We went for the 7 course “taster” menu, amazing value for money at only £40 pp for such excellence. Have paid far more than that at other more pretentious restaurants, and have come away feeling hungry, unlike the generous taster portions we enjoyed this evening, As a footnote, credit is due also to the amazing Molly, who single-handedly waited on a full restaurant this evening, such efficiency on her part added greatly to our experience👍👍
Reliably good food Lovely food, well cooked and nicely presented. Prefer lunchtime as more reasonably priced. Pity vegetables cost extra in evening.
Lovely food, locally sourced Fantastic food, quite a good choice with a 3 course set menu for under £20. Enjoyed the lava bread crumble and cockle popcorn, always good to have local food choices. Quite a small restaurant, but felt intimate so good atmosphere. Thoroughly recommended!
Birthday treat I visited here in September for my boyfriend birthday we had the lunch time set menu. The food was delicious and amazing the atmosphere was lovely. Excellent service will definitely be returning soon
Give it a visit I visited on a saturday afternoon with a group of seven girls. We were sat on the main floor, my understanding is that there is seating downstairs as well. I ordered from the set lunch menu for approx 12.95 (some things are an additional £1/£2). I had focaccia with goats cheese and red onion which was lovely, followed by a main of belly pork with potatoes. The wait for the food was just right, not too short that you felt rushed, but no too long making you wonder where your food is. Just perfect. Food was perfectly cooked, presented and tasted amazing. Pudding looked great, but I was too full! I will definitely visit again. Only reason for not giving five stars is the service wasn’t amazing and you do feel a little like everyone is listening to your conversation. Perhaps better suited for small groups, or couples. However, you should definitely visit!
Best meal I’ve had Wow the food here was beautiful. It isnt cheap but for a special occasion it is well worth it. I can highly recommend everything i had…the scallop starter, hanson trio main and sharing desert. All to die for. We did have to wait a while for starters but there were a couple of big tables in. The waiters were very helpful and attentive and its a lovely romantic place. We’ll be back!
Family celebration 8 of us booked a table there for a special birthday, the resturant is very small but compfortable and staff make you fell welcome and specialThe food is very good, but portions very small, some of us had three courses just to fill up, my grandson asked for extra portion of chips as we counted the portion which consisted of 9 chips, so if you got a good appetite it’s not the place to go I had fillet steak, chips, Veg was a small dish of veg in season, we thought it was for one person, but discovered it was between three of usNot value for money,
Ritz quality dining. Andrew, the chef and owner, trained at the Ritz. I visited for lunch with a “Travelzoo” voucher priced at £45 for 2 persons. We dined on the 7 course tasting menu priced at £40 each. Obviously all portions are small which allows the chef to demonstrate his work. First course- chicken liver parfait on toast followed by foccicia with red onion marmalade. This was followed by a tiny portion of carrot and rosemary soup, The main course was a choice between the hake fillet or confit duck with Dauphinoise potatoes. We chose the fish. the dessert was a chocolate biscuit and coffee to finish.I selected a good bottle of Chablis la Colombe famille Michaut 2016 at £29.95 to accompany the fish. I recommend a good bottle at a restaurant of this quality. Excellent restaurant. The only slight problem is that the toilets are upstairs so might be difficult for infirm diners. Friendly staff. Recommended.
Delicious Visited for lunch with friends. The lunch set menu has plenty of choice – starter and main, or main and dessert. Our party had a mix of starters and desserts. The starter was pate and looked beautiful, served with bread and chutney. Mains included hake Kiev and chicken with pasta. The hake was served with chips. All were delicious. Desserts were lemon tart and baked cheesecake. Again plates were scraped clean. If you want delicious food that’s slightly different then this is the place to visit.
Balmy Saturday dinner for two Food tremendous. It looked and tasted beautiful. Three delicious courses each, coffees, a beer and a very agreeable bottle of prosecco for a shade under £90. Service was good. The one drawback with visiting on a warm Saturday evening is that with the front door propped open you have to endure the sounds and smells of whoever passes by. On this particular night there were goodness knows how many stag, hen, 21st birthday parties staggering noisily up towards Wind Street. People’s cigarette smoke also wafted in through the doorway as well as what appeared to be a homeless guy lying asleep a few yards from the restaurant entrance. Minor stuff but some sensitive diners might prefer to choose a quieter night to visit.
Won’t visit again 😢 We used to consider this restaurant our favourite and first choice when eating out in Swansea. However, after a recent visit and some very upsetting communication from the owner we won’t be returning. I won’t be vengeful and give it a poor rating as the food is truly delightful and the atmosphere is lovely. It’s a small restaurant and booking is advisable. They do have tables downstairs but that area doesn’t have the same atmosphere as the main restaurant. It’s not suitable for disabled clients who may have trouble climbing stairs to go to the toilet. I’ve had to accompany a family member to the pub next door in order for her to use the toilet. It has a children’s menu but I would question if it is child friendly. However, I wish them continued success for the future.
Delicious, different dishes, DIY For starters we had the venison and camembert bon bons (newly added to menu) which were perfect. For mains we had the duck and monk fish dishes which were very good. The side of chips was nice too. Enough food on plates. Really great service from Kelly who made us laugh and checked in on us. The table was a little wobbly, loose feet which fe fixed.
Absolutely Outstanding Evening out Visited Hanson’s at the Chelsea for a birthday meal with my Sister. We visited at 7pm on a Saturday evening. We haven’t visited before, and I was immediately impressed by the attentive staff and the intimate feel of the place. We we’re given a choice of tables, and picked a nice 2 seater towards the back of the main floor. The menu had a great selection of food choices, and we had the 2 course set dinner menu. I had the Slow-Cooked Belly pork and it was divine. It was the nicest meal I’ve ever had. Tasty, perfectly cooked and wonderfully presented. I then opted for the Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brulé for desert. It was the best Crème Brulé I’ve ever had. So creamy and smooth, with a crunchy sugary crust. Amazing. I would highly recommend it The staff were also lovely, out Waiter (I didn’t catch his name) was friendly, helpful and chatty (in just the right way) and helped round off the evening to a perfect night. We were one of the first to arrive, and the last to leave; we would have stayed all night if we could!
Excellent family lunch Amazing food, glad we found this little gem for our family lunch. The food were excellent, everything from Starter to desert were cooked to perfection. We all had something different:Starters: scallops, fish cake, soupMain course: steak, lamb shank, hake, mixed seafood and the chef’s went out of his way to cook carbonara with king prawns for our fussy daughter (amazing)!Desert: crème brûlée, jam pudding, bread & butter pudding, lemon tartAll highly recommended. The wine was very reasonable too.The staffs were very attentive and friendly. We’ll definitely come back when we visit Swansea again. Reservation for weekend is a must as they can accommodate 40 covers for lunch or dinner at a time. The lemon tart didn’t stay on the plate long enough for my husband to take a photo!
Surprise visit for birthday meal My husband booked Hanson’s for a birthday meal with my family. We haven’t been there as a couple for quite a few years (anniversary I think) and I had forgotten how wonderful the food is. We visited on a Tuesday evening this time and were surprised to see a few couples there aswell. For such an exceptional restaurant, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The waiter (sorry I’m hopeless with names) was very friendly and attentive without being imposing. Although the menu and environment is probably more suited to adults, my teenagers enjoyed themselves immensely (which probably increased my enjoyment) and ate more than they usually do!!! I don’t know why it’s taken us so long to return… I really don’t… but top brownie points to my husband on my special day!
Quality at a Great Price We had a 3 course lunch here just before new year . A group of 20.The food served up by this place was amazing value for money …3 courses for £19.95 I think it was a bit extra for the steak …the only minor downside is the size of the place… can feel a bit crammed.. more so when the place busy …but this does not detract from the fact that this place is Superb !! …..Menu ,staff , Quality ,Atmosphere and Price all get top marks …if you are heading to Swansea look this place up ..We highly recommend it .
Fantastic Meal & Service We ate here on Monday night after managing to get a last minute booking. It’s small restaurant with a great atmosphere. The menu looked great and we couldn’t decide what to order so went for the tasting menu and were not disappointed. Would certainly return if in Swansea again.
Fantastic food, so-so service I would definately recommend this resteraunt 100% as far as the food is concerned, we were a large party and so I saw (and tasted!!) quite a few of the options. Everything I tried was first class, I had the fish cake and the 8 hour pork and both were stunning. The wine and champagne were also reasonably priced and came from a good selection. My only problem with the whole night was the first waitress we encountered, she was rude and confrontational from the moment we arrived and thankfuly after a while we dealt with other two waiting staff who were both completely proffesional and friendly. The first waitress certainly won’t stop me from repeating my visit but I think that my spirit will dip a little if she come to take our order!!
Annual review A great menu, made it difficult to choose at first; unfortunately, for a few of us, they didn’t have everything available, which was disappointing. There were 20 people which was a challenge, but the service could have been a little better; some waited ages even for a soft drink. The quality of the food was very good and no one complained about that.I would visit again, but would make sure that a large group is not going.Let us know what we were able to do for you.
